Navarathna Samarpanam:
As part of the Pranapratishta yantras are energized with beeja mantras and placed underneath the respective deities. Navarathanas are placed on the yantras and sealed off permanently during the prathishta. Navaratna’s (Nine Gems) are considered auspicious and associated to Good Health, Prosperity, Happiness and Peace of Mind. Sanathana Dharma (Hindu) Vedic Astrology suggests that by wearing the gem stone that is defined by one’s birth star, the wearer is in protection and is connected to the governing Navagraha to the deity under which the respective navaratna is placed.
In Garuda PuranA as narrated by Suta Maharushi, the significance of Navaratnas is reffered as “Pure, flawless gems have auspicious powers which can protect one from demons, snakes, poisons, diseases, sinful reactions, and other dangers” The Agni PuranA states that “A gem free from all impurities and radiating its characteristic internal luster should be looked upon as an escort of good luck” PeriyaAzhwar in his thiruMozhi (2-4) address Lord Krishna as “Ruby (mAnikkam), Pearl” while inviting HIM for taking bath (Thirumanjanam). “mANikkamE! en maNiyE! * manjchanamAda nI vArAy!”
